Performing Arts for children & young people
Dance4you Performing Arts run three schools and are currently teaching children in Beckenham and West Wickham and Sydenham. The schools provide classes for children and young people in both dance and drama 6 days a week. The schools have been established for over 13 years and both Conan and Lauren, who have a wealth of experience working with children, are very proud of the schools success. The schools continue to grow and now have a reputation of being the best performing arts schools in the borough of Bromley. Achieving both examinations and the experience of performance. Children come from as far as Streatham and Croydon. The subjects covered are vast, giving the pupil a varied and sound experience of the arts. Lots of the pupils have gone on to professional schools and all of the pupils pass exams and achieve confidence and maturity from doing so. Great fun is had by all, especially making new friends when working on shows .
We are very proud of the schools and look forward to happy partnerships with the parent and pupils. Conan Rice, the Principal, stresses the importance of correct technique and teaches the Istd syllabus, it allows regular progression towards a sound technical dance ability, which in turn enables the pupil to participate in free style dance, and perhaps reaching a dream of becoming a professional dancer and performer.
SUBJECTS- ISTD Classical Ballet. Modern. Jazz. Tap. Tots tap. Musical Production. Pre-school dance. Singing. Exams. Shows. Speech and Drama. Performance Club. All classes are taught by qualified Istd teachers. It is recommended that a pupil takes a selection of classes therefore having a complete course in the arts. A pupil can attend every evening and have an overall training. The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is the world's leading dance examinations board. Formed in 1904 it is today a registered educational charity and is the only organisation that covers the full spectrum of dance examinations on a truly global scale. The ISTD's chief objective is "to educate the public in the art of dancing in all its forms". To achieve this, the ISTD works in four main ways: to promote knowledge of the dance, to maintain and improve teaching standards, to qualify, by examination, teachers of dancing in the ISTD's specialist techniques taught by our 10,000 members in schools of dancing throughout the world, to provide, through its syllabi, techniques upon which to train dancers for the profession.
